Non-prepacked (loose) food

Food that is not sealed in packaging before the customer chooses it — for example food plated to order or taken from an open display.

Loose food still needs allergen information available; it does not need a full PPDS ingredients label on a pack that does not exist.

Do I need a PPDS label on loose bakery items?

No pack label is required for true loose food, but allergen information must still be accurate and available — often via trained staff and a matrix.

What if I bag loose food after the customer chooses?

Bagging after selection is usually not PPDS. Packing before selection usually is.
